Our Process

Our financial planning process aims to transform the relationship you have with your finances, bringing clarity to what may currently seem overwhelming. While each new client has unique circumstances that influence the timeline, our process generally takes one to three months from first conversation to plan implementation.

Step 2: Think

Partnering with an advisor is a big step. We want you to feel confident in your decision, so we encourage everyone to take some time to think it over.

Step 3: Let’s Go!

If we decide to work together, we will provide you with our Advisory Agreement and one last digital survey to gather information to get to work on your financial plan.

Step 4: Walden Roots

Now the fun begins. This is the part of our process that everyone talks about; a two-meeting deep dive into your core values, goals and financial purpose. The most common feedback we get is “when can we do this again?”

Step 5: Plan Review

Once you’ve codified your values, goals and financial purpose, we will craft your unique financial plan. We will marry the “soft” work you’ve done as part of the Roots process with the technical financial planning work to create a financial plan full of actionable recommendations to meet your financial goals in a way that aligns with your values and financial purpose.

Step 6: Implementation and Next Steps

Our job begins with the plan creation and doesn’t end until everything gets done. After we both review and agree to our “next steps”, we monitor progress and nudge along as needed.

Step 7: Check In

Once we’ve worked through the low hanging fruit we regroup for a check-in meeting to review the items completed and agree on a new set of next steps.

Step 8: Year 2+

At this point we’ve done the heavy lifting, and you should be in a pretty good place. Now we shift to plan maintenance which includes proactive strategic advice, monthly portfolio rebalancing, quarterly check in calls, annual reviews and ongoing financial education through regular communication.
